  • Rural Warrandyte, Melbourne storm water management landscaping by Land Sculpture with rocky creek bed to aid water runoff

Warrandyte Stormwater Management Landscaping

Project Details

In typical Warrandyte style, our clients enjoyed a beautiful mud brick home in a rural setting.

The only problem was that the house is on the low side of a sloping block, so after heavy rain the home would regularly flood.

We were called in to help with stormwater management, diverting the excess water away from the home.

To do this in a natural way without unsightly visible drains, we created a rocky creek bed that hides the drainage system.

At the same time, we were asked to landscape the high ground, turning a soggy unusable area into a beautiful garden landscape.

Excavating / Site work

  • Bobcat and excavator were used to shape the drainage system and place landscaping rocks and import soil for gardens and lawns

Retaining Walls

  • Gabion steel baskets filled with Riverstone used to retain bottom courtyards

Concreting

  • Reinforced concrete was pumped in to shape the spoon drain

Decking & Timber work

  • A small cypress pine boardwalk was built over the dry river bed disguising the spoon drain to achieve access to back yard

Plumbing / Drainage

  • A large concrete spoon drain was built to cut off any water run off from heading towards the house
  • This was directed to a large pit which collected the water and then entered the storm water system

Planting / Lawn

  • Sir Walter buffalo and steel edging was chosen for the lawn area

Rock Work

  • Field granite was used for landscaping and Riverstone used to cover over the concrete spoon drain
